We are very fortunate to still have many local services that have long since disappeared from other rural areas. These include our school, church, chapel, village shop and post office, garage with convenience store, pub, playing field and a bus service.

The Rest and Be Thankful Inn

 

Our local pub is The Rest and Be Thankful Inn.

This used to be an old coaching inn but now specialises in quality accommodation and excellent home cooking. The pub is a popular venue for local skittles, darts and quiz nights and has facilities for children and the recreation field with its play area close by.

The Moorland Hall

 

The Moorland Hall was built in 1934 and plays an important part in our village life. Many of the local clubs hold their meeting and fundraising events. These include W.I., Friendship Club, Young Farmers, Art Classes, Short mat Bowls, Youth Club, Play Group, Mother & Toddler Group, Parish Council. The Bus Shelter

The Bus Shelter

 

The bus shelter is a new addition to the village replacing a very tired unattractive building. But this is no ordinary bus shelter; it features an excellent village map for you to view and some information on Snowdrop Valley. For details of local bus services, see timetable at the shelter.

Exmoor National Park run the Snowdrop Valley 'park and ride' next to this bus shelter in February
