Wildlife and fauna on the Moor

The area surrounding Wheddon Cross and Cutcombe has an abundance of wildlife and flora. The red deer are our most prized visitor and can often be spotted sunning themselves on the moorland nearby.

There are only about 1000 Exmoor ponies to be found in the world which means they are rarer than the Giant Panda!
About 150 live on the moorlands of Exmoor and those found on on Dunkery moor are Tawbitts, Exmoors bred by Mrs J.M. Ablett and Mrs G.M. Langdon.
